CSV Doctor
Clean CSV files online
CSV Doctor opens CSV files right in your browser and helps you fix the most common problems: duplicate rows, stray whitespace, inconsistent headers, empty cells or a wrong encoding that turns accented letters into odd symbols.
The file is read and processed in your browser. Its contents are never sent to or stored on a server.
No operation is applied silently. Before running it you see how many rows or cells will change, and every change goes into a history you can undo. On export, quotes, delimiters and line breaks inside cells are preserved correctly.
What it is for
Importing contacts
Before uploading a list to your CRM or email marketing tool, remove duplicates by email and strip spaces that cause import errors.
Fixing broken accents
If an Excel export shows “ñ” instead of “ñ”, change the encoding and export as UTF-8 with BOM so it opens correctly.
Cleaning sign-ups or orders
Find repeated rows and empty cells per column, and filter to review doubtful cases without changing the original.
Changing the delimiter
Convert a semicolon CSV (common in Spanish Excel) to commas, or to tabs, for other applications.
How to use it
- Open a .csv, .tsv or .txt file. The tool detects delimiter and encoding; you can change them if the guess is wrong.
- Review the diagnosis: duplicates, empty rows and missing values per column.
- Apply cleaning operations. Each one previews its impact and can be undone.
- Filter or sort to review the data and export the result with the delimiter you prefer.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I see characters like “é” instead of accents?
Does filtering delete rows?
How large can the file be?
Limitations
- The table shows up to 500 rows at a time to stay smooth; operations apply to all rows.
- Encoding detection recognizes UTF-8, UTF-16 with BOM and Windows-1252; other encodings are chosen manually.
- It does not evaluate formulas or infer data types: every cell is treated as text.
