CleanExif
Remove EXIF metadata and GPS location from photos
Photos taken with a phone often include invisible metadata: the exact GPS location, date and time, phone model and even the camera serial number. When you share them, that information travels with the image.
Photos and their coordinates are analyzed in your browser. They are never uploaded or logged.
CleanExif shows which metadata each file contains and removes it by stripping the relevant blocks from the original file, without recompressing the image. It then re-analyzes the result and tells you what was removed and what it could not verify.
What it is for
Selling on second-hand apps
A photo taken at home can reveal your exact address. Remove the location before posting it in listings.
Photos of children and family
Share images in groups or social networks without the date, place and phone model travelling with them.
Publishing on your website or blog
Photos uploaded to your own website are published as they are, metadata included. Clean them before uploading.
Protecting sources and documents
Journalists and activists can remove data that identifies the camera or the device serial number.
How to use it
- Add one or more JPEG, PNG or WebP photos.
- Review the detected metadata. If there are GPS coordinates you will see a highlighted warning.
- Press “Remove metadata”. The photo orientation is kept so it does not appear rotated.
- Compare before and after and download the clean copy.
Frequently asked questions

Is the image fully anonymous afterwards?
Why is the color profile kept?
Limitations
- Lossless removal is available for JPEG, PNG (including APNG) and WebP. HEIC, TIFF and other formats can only be inspected when the reader recognizes them.
- The ICC color profile is kept. In WebP and PNG the orientation comes from the image data, which is not modified.
