DevPocket
XML formatter and validator
Paste XML and the tool checks that it is well-formed: properly closed and nested tags, quoted attributes and a single root element. If there is an error it shows the parser message and, when possible, the line.
Whatever you paste into DevPocket is processed in your browser and is neither stored nor sent.

Formatting works on the original text, so comments, CDATA sections and entities are kept exactly. For safety, entity declarations (<!ENTITY>), which enable expansion attacks, are not accepted, and the content is never inserted into the page.
How to use it
- Paste the XML or load the example.
- Choose format or minify.
- If it is valid, copy the result; if not, fix the reported error.
Frequently asked questions
Does it validate against an XSD schema?
No. It checks that the XML is well-formed, which is the basic requirement. Validation against XSD or DTD needs the schema and is not performed.
Does it work for RSS feeds or sitemaps?
Yes, you can format and review any well-formed XML, such as RSS feeds, sitemaps, SVG or e-invoices, although their specific rules are not checked.
Limitations
- Regular expressions use the JavaScript engine; syntax may differ from PCRE, Python or Java.
- The text diff is designed for documents up to about 2 MB.
